Small ideas to work on writing
Hi teachers! Here I bring you some ideas for activities to work on writing with
the youngest learners.
When we ask students to copy a word, let's add a reason, a little twist, or motivation. In this activity, for example, we ask students to identify the word that is repeated, then they draw it.
Success comes when students who have written the words BOOK and LINE correctly on the lines and also draw the book and the line in the box. And it's not just a mechanical copy, they've had to guess the correct word twice.
Or… Write Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday on a scale:
In this way, we will also be reinforcing the connections between words and personal connotations.
For some children, writing is one of the activities that most helps them remember a language. Writing the letters or seeing them on paper (or another surface) can make them much easier for our students to remember.
Another idea would be to “build” words with Scrabble tiles or letters made from cardboard.
To review and consolidate words that they have studied, a very good idea may be to write them on stickers or mini post-its and stick them on some of the illustrations in the book labeling the elements. For example:
